Z Grills 10002B2E Review + Wi-Fi Upgrade & Burn-In Guide

🔥 Z Grills 10002B2E Review: Assembly, Wi-Fi Upgrade & First Burn

Let me tell y’all something — opening a brand-new pellet grill still gives me that Christmas-morning feeling. When I unboxed the Z Grills 10002B2E, I knew this wasn’t just another big backyard cooker. This one came with bold promises, smart features, and a loyalty program that’s downright hard to believe.

In this post, I’m walking you through the full setup — from unboxing and assembly, to the optional Wi-Fi controller upgrade and our full burn-in and seasoning process. And yes, I’ll explain exactly how the Reward Crowdfunding Program works (because you’re gonna want to hear this).

📦 Unboxing & First Impressions

Z Grills didn’t waste an inch in that packaging — every part, bolt, and tool was locked down tighter than a Jenga tower. No rattles, no scratches, no missing pieces. The grill chamber was packed with all the accessories, and it even came with a wrench and pre-sorted hardware.

Tip: Lay everything out before you start — it’ll make the build a lot smoother.

🧰 Assembly: Easier Than Expected

Despite its size, this grill came together fast. With the help of a Phillips #2 and a little patience, I had the cart and frame built in about 45 minutes. The instructions were clear, parts were labeled, and Z Grills even marks every screw type on a chart so you know exactly what you’re working with.

📲 Installing the Wi-Fi + Bluetooth PID Controller

This part’s optional — but highly recommended. I installed Z Grills’ separate Wi-Fi controller to take full advantage of app control and remote temp monitoring.

The install process was straightforward:

  • Remove the hopper
  • Unscrew the existing controller
  • Match wire harnesses one-to-one
  • Mount the new controller and attach the magnetic antenna

Once connected to the app (firmware update required), I had full Bluetooth and Wi-Fi access to adjust temps from my phone — no more babysitting the smoker.

🔥 Burn-In & Seasoning

Before any meat hits the grates, it’s important to burn off residue from the manufacturing process and season your grill like you would a cast iron skillet.

Here’s how I did it:

  1. Removed the grates, grease tray, and diffuser
  2. Ran the grill at 350°F for 45 minutes to burn off residues
  3. Sprayed a light coat of high-heat oil (I used Pam) on the inside walls, diffuser, and lid
  4. Reassembled the grill and ran it again at 375°F for 30–45 minutes to set the seasoning

Optional: You can wipe with canola or avocado oil if you prefer not to use spray.

💸 The Reward Crowdfunding Program

Z Grills has launched a program I’ve never seen before in the BBQ world. For a one-time contribution of $777, you get the 10002B2E shipped to your door — and then every 5 years for the next 50 years, you get a brand-new Z Grill.

No trade-ins. No upgrades required. You keep the old grill and just pay shipping on the new one.

It’s Z Grills’ way of turning customers into long-term partners — and honestly, it’s a genius move.
